Overview

Ride the Fintech Wave Innovation & Transformation

As Fintech continues to evolve, how can leaders and managers respond early and effectively to ride the wave, and leverage the myriad opportunities?

Through seminars, discussions, case studies and reflections, this programme will deepen your understanding of the rapidly changing Fintech landscape and the impact of new innovations on traditional business models. Jussi Keppo

Associate Professor and Co-Director of Business Analytics Center

Jussi teaches risk management and analytics courses, and directs analytics executive education programmes at NUS Business School. He is also Co-Director of NUS Business Analytics Center. Previously, he taught at the University of Michigan. He has several publications in the top-tier journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Review of Economic Studies, Management Science, Operations Research, and Journal of Business on topics such as investment analysis, banking regulation, learning, and strategic incentives. His research has been featured also in numerous business and popular publications, including the Wall Street Journal and Fortune.His research has been supported by several Asian, European, and US agencies such as the National Science Foundation. He serves on the editorial boards of Mathematics of Operations Research, Journal of Risk, Production and Operations Management, and Journal of Energy Markets. He has consulted several start-ups, Fortune 100 companies, and financial institutions.

Jai Arya

Prior to this, he worked for Bank of New York Mellon for 27 years and Bank of America for ten years, in various Asian locations. Before leaving BNY Mellon in April 2014, he was an Executive Vice President and Global Head of their business with sovereign institutions, and Chairman of their Sovereign Advisory Board. In addition he was a member of the bank's Global Operating Committee and Asia Executive Committee.

Earlier roles include head of Asia client management and country offices. He holds an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (Honours) from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University India.

Sopnendu Mohanty

Sopnendu Mohanty is responsible for creating development strategies, public infrastructure and regulatory policies around technology innovation. Mohanty has spent over 20 years in various leadership roles globally in technology, finance and innovation. Mohanty extensively engages with ecosystems of various jurisdictions on innovation, policy making and tech enabled financial services. He is on the Institutional Investor’s list of influential FinTech global dealmakers. Mikko Niemelä

Mikko S. Niemelä is president and CEO of Kinkayo, a Singapore-based cyber intelligence agency. He is also chairman of Silverskin, a cyberattack company, and author of Anatomy of a Cyberattack. As a serial entrepreneur, Mikko lives for startup heavy lifting by creating technologies and solutions from scratch. He has been ranked among the top 100 cybersecurity influencers, and in 2017, his company was nominated for the second time in a row for the Cybersecurity 500 list, a global compilation of the hottest and most innovative cybersecurity companies.

During his career, Mikko has focused on security testing and auditing information systems, security leadership and management, incident response and digital forensics, cyber defence and exploit development.

Prior to this, Mikko was a trainer for law enforcement agencies such as Interpol, the armed forces and a number of intelligence agencies. He is currently the program director for the Hands-on cybersecurity manager program at the University of Free State.

Mikko is currently researching cyber exposure and cyberattacks and their implications for decision making at both the management and board levels. He previously developed a security metrics model for assessing an organization’s internal security controls. Mikko also holds a patent in cryptography.

Steven Scheurmann

With 25 years of experience across Asia Pacific & Japan, Steven Scheurmann has held senior management, governmental, pre-sales, and project direction positions for large MNCs, a leading finance and banking consultancy firm, and a major ERP software supplier to the mining, oil and gas industry. Steven is currently responsible for leading and working with a team of subject-matter experts and business partners that address the challenges associated with: Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combating Financing of Terrorists (CFT) and Politically-Exposed Persons (PEP).

His team works with end-customers leveraging deep insights, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, preventing Cyber Crime, real-time fraudulent transactions and the associated challenges of adopting mobile solutions. While one of the objectives is to address the risk and exposure attributable to technology adoption, the team understands the importance of helping organisations leverage technology to grow the business and deliver a truly special customer experience.

Rahul Shinghal

Rahul Shinghal is the Managing Director of Southeast Asia for PayPal. Based in Singapore, he drives PayPal’s business strategy, sales, partnerships and merchant adoption of PayPal’s newest payment innovations to transform commerce in the region. Under his lead, the SEA merchant base has grown three-fold and its business has more than doubled to become one of the fastest growing business units in APAC.

In addition to his Southeast Asia role, Rahul also heads up the Merchant Support team for PayPal across Asia Pacific. This involves leading merchant operations, telesales and partner sales to create exceptional customer experience while collaborating with the markets to achieve sales targets through telesales. In his eight years at PayPal, he has headed up Mobile Payments and served as acting leader for Japan Merchant Services. Rahul was also the Regional Head of Strategic Industry Verticals for PayPal Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for building a center of excellence and customized strategy for key verticals such as digital content, travel and fashion. In this role, Rahul was charged with leading a team of industry experts whose mandate was to understand the unique requirements of each vertical and work towards creating a tailored value proposition for PayPal's customers in these markets.

Rahul has nearly 20 years of experience in the payments and online commerce market in APAC . Prior to joining PayPal, he was the Head of Mobile and Internet Services at NETS Singapore and the Asia Pacific Sales Director for SmartTrust, where he was tasked to drive the adoption of mobile transaction services on a regional level.

Veiverne Yuen

Prior to his time at the GIC, Veiverne led of Rabobank’s Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory desk in South East Asia. In this role, he led multiple deals including the China-Singapore Jilin Food Zone and the Northern Corridor Economic Region in Malaysia. Veiverne’s team also provided regular commodity price forecasts used the bank for trade finance, equities and credit activities. Veiverne has also held roles at the Monetary Authority of Singapore in Capital Markets Supervision, and Rolls-Royce plc in the United Kingdom as a design engineer.
